It is an innovative, creative and forward-thinking school held in high regard locally and nationally. The Academy has a long-standing reputation for achieving some of the best GCSE and Post 16 results in the local area. In our most recent Ofsted of February 2020 the school was judged to be good with outstanding features. We are extremely proud of being one of a small number of secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes under the new framework.
Proud of belonging to a large and diverse school, our staff are professional, highly dedicated, collaborative, supportive and friendly. We are fully staffed in all areas with subject specialists. Our staffing is extremely stable with a large proportion of our staff having worked at Wood Green Academy for many years. We continually invest in staff development through weekly dedicated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) time, and by offering professional development opportunities and career development. We are also a National Support School and a School Direct Lead School heavily involved with Initial Teacher Training working with local universities and Teach First through post graduate courses.
Our students are enthusiastic, well behaved and keen to learn. They are welcoming, positive and proud of their Academy. They have a good working relationship with staff, which is built on mutual trust, honesty and respect.
The Academy, although always striving to excel and attain the very best in terms of achievement, also strongly believes in the importance of developing the whole child. We seek to give students the very best of opportunities from which they can develop self-confidence, social skills and awareness of the world in which they are valuable citizens.
