Italia Conti is one of the UK’s leading performing arts colleges ranked ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and offers world class vocational training in Musical Theatre, Dance and Acting at Secondary, FE and HE level. This role will be part of Italia Conti Juniors – our independent secondary day school.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced Lead Teacher for Science, who will have sole responsibility for developing the Science department at Key Stages 3 and 4.

The opportunity - the role will be:

  • To be accountable for leading, managing and developing the Science department and
    curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • To monitor and support student progress and nurture enthusiasm for Science.
  • To provide an engaging curriculum that supports learners of varying abilities and provides
    opportunity for pupils to achieve their individual potential.
  • To effectively manage physical resources within the Science department.


As a teacher at the Italia Conti Academy, you will have the opportunity to work with relatively small groups of students, within a dynamic and highly creative environment.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced and talented practitioner who will be confident in leading the department as the sole teacher of Science. This role would suit a either a serving head of department or an ambitious individual who would like to lead their own department for the first time. The candidate we are seeking will be keen to contribute to the pastoral side of school life and support the performances and shows that take place during the academic year.

About Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts

Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts is a mixed, non-denominational independent secondary school in the London borough of Islington, serving students from the age of 10-19. The secondary school has approximately 81 students on record.

Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts was established in 1911 by actress Italia Conti. The school moved to its current site in 1981 and specialises in the performing arts. Facilities include dance, acting and singing studios, along with lecture rooms, academic classrooms and a video studio. Along with the main secondary school, there are 12 other branches around the country which provide courses in performing arts and training up to degree level. Full time students belong to The Italia Conti Agency to help enhance their opportunities in the industry.
