The service is currently within a period consultation, whilst the role is currently advertised at L3 to L8, this is indicative and may be positively impacted by the consultation process, and the attached job description is also subject to review. This is not expected to change the overall accountability for the position.
The SEND Specialist Advice and Support service, within Integrated Services for Learning (ISL), works with children and young people with a range of complex needs. This includes children in the early years, with autism and other communication difficulties, with specific learning difficulties or with sensory and physical impairments.
We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Practitioner (Vision Impairment) within this multi professional team.
You will lead the specialist support service provision for children and young people (0-25) with vision impairment across the County, ensuring quality and equity of service delivery, under the direction of the Sensory Specialism Lead. You will secure best outcomes for children and young people with vision impairment by empowering settings to meet their needs effectively in line with the SEND Code of Practice, the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and HCC strategic objectives. You will ensure that children, young people and their families are at the centre of all practice.
You will have significant management experience and you will hold the mandatory qualification to teach vision impaired children (QTVI). You will enjoy working with a dedicated and talented staff who make such a positive difference to the lives of VI children and their families.
