Leadership L7 – L11 (£46,430 to £51,234)

Required for September 2019

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and inspirational leader to join Carlton Bolling from September 2019.

Your new school

Carlton Bolling is an Outstanding school which has been on a rapid improvement journey over recent years, with results in 2017 within the top 5% of schools nationally. This progress was recognised by Ofsted who praised the “Highly aspirational vision for the school”

Staff enjoy working at Carlton Bolling and are supported and encouraged to lead and develop their practice.  Although we are rated Outstanding, we are still moving forward at the same trajectory on our path to become one of the top 1% of schools in the country. These achievements have caught the eyes of policymakers, with the school recently being given the go-ahead to form a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), where it will have even greater scope to develop top practice and share this expertise with other schools that join us.

We have many exciting non-academic successes and initiatives to celebrate. This includes a purpose-built new school that provides a far more pleasant environment, giving students and staff a boost and feeling that we are special and deserve the best. Community engagement is taken very seriously, with the opening of the Boxing Academy in January 2017 and Cricket Academy which opened in January 2018.  Both are open to staff, students and the community in general, underlining our commitment to making BD3 the very best it can be.

Your new role

As Lead Teacher in Creative Studies you will be working at leadership level to share recognised best practice in teaching and learning through research and investigation, partnership teaching, mentoring and coaching, leading professional development, working parties, running a teaching and learning development group and working across faculties and departments to embed college priorities. You will work with teachers to support the development of their practice and be committed to securing high expectations for learning and raising achievement in a multi-ethnic school, including the tracking and monitoring of student progress.

The Creative Arts Faculty

The Creative Arts Faculty is a large faculty with 16 teachers and 3 technicians. We follow the national curriculum for years 7 and 8 and students take options for a three-year GCSE from year 9 to year 11. We offer GCSE subjects in Art & Design, Digital Photography, Food and Nutrition, Resistant Materials and Graphics with BTEC Awards in Drama, Music & PE. Class sizes are around 20-22 students at KS3 and 20 at KS4 and staff are supported with some excellent resources and training.

We look forward to hearing from candidates who share our vision and are prepared to put in the effort to attain our goals.

Carlton Bolling is an Outstanding school which has been on a rapid improvement journey over recent years, gaining an Ofsted “outstanding “rating (2017) less than two years after coming out of “special measures”. We recently achieved the World Class School Quality Mark (2018) confirming our continuing commitment to move the school forward to the very highest levels nationally with focussed new initiatives and innovations.

Our shared vision of “Excellence for All” runs through all aspects of students` school life. As well as outstanding academic outcomes the school provides a breadth of curriculum and enrichment opportunities which add value to every child, preparing them for modern British life.

Staff enjoy working at Carlton Bolling and are supported and encouraged to lead and develop practice with the quality of teaching and learning being a significant strength.  “Pupils and staff are enthused and excited to excel. Pupils and staff work together within a harmonious community, where they are fully supported”: Ofsted, November 2017. I am very proud to work alongside established teachers, leaders and staff with a proven track record in delivering high quality learning with excellent outcomes for students. We offer bespoke and regular CPD opportunities that are linked to career stage; this ensures our best teachers are given development opportunities for future leadership roles. Our ITT, NQT and Teach First development programmes are robust, fit for purpose and lead to a significant number of trainees securing permanent jobs with us. We have recently partnered with Bradford College to facilitate our own Carlton Bolling Route into teacher training.

Fostering close links with families and the community are embedded in our ethos as we value their engagement and support. Our sports academy concept has successfully established the boxing and cricket academies, both are open to staff, students and the BD3 community.

We are proud to be the founding school in the Carlton Academy Trust and look forward to working with other schools on their journey to excellence. These are exciting times at Carlton Bolling and we sincerely hope you will decide to join us on our journey.
