Lead Teacher Maths

WVC Main Scale/UPS + TRL 2.2 £4833

Start Date: September 2019

Witchford Village College is an expanding village college for years 7 to 11 located two miles west of the historic city of Ely and we are part of the Morris Education Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a successful teacher seeking their first steps towards a departmental leadership position, or a current Second in Department seeking a new challenge as this position provides a great platform to middle leadership.   You will want to be part of the team leading on maths and making a real impact on further driving up standards. We are totally committed to providing an inspirational and highly engaging mathematical experience for all and your focus in the faculty will be to support the Lead Practitioner with the emphasis on promoting excellent teaching and learning, helping to lead, manage and develop a specific area of the curriculum and working to enhance the teaching practice of other staff in the Faculty.

Our team consists of six subject specialist teachers ably supported by a designated teaching assistant. The department is half way through a full refurbishment with each staff member designing their teaching space to their and their student’s needs.

The department has significantly benefited from the Mathematics SSIF CPD project, funded via the local opportunity fund. This has allowed the team to plan and model the latest teaching practice across all key stages and groups to enhance the progress and outcomes for all of our students.

We firmly believe in the personal and professional development of our teachers and this role offers a fantastic opportunity to build on your experience and transform your career opportunities.  We are offering the successful candidate a £3000 Personal Professional Development Bursary that could be used to support a high quality CPD opportunity such as the following.

• Undertaking a research trip to study a high performing country model for Maths

• a learning visit to a high performing British or European school

• Trust support through the appointment of a highly experienced Trust Director of Mathematics

• a forward looking, evidence informed,  CPD  programme with  Trust-wide CPD opportunities within the MET

• support to undertake a Masters in Education and other L5 accredited professional development

• An outward, forward looking supportive working environment

We are confident that when joining our team and College you will feel welcomed from the start and we encourage prospective candidates to visit the College before applying.  If you would like to arrange a visit or need more information please contact Trudy John tjohn@wvc.tmet.org.uk  PA to the Principal

Our College is committed to Equal Opportunities and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  All post holders are subject to employment checks and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Closing Date:   10am Wednesday 22 May and interview Friday 24 May

For further information and an application form please go to our website www.witchfordvc.co.uk. Applicants must complete a College application form - we cannot accept CVs.  Completed applications should be sent either via the TES or to Mrs John by the closing date.
