The Trust

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and is rated “Requires Improvement” by Ofsted in June 2019 and is a rapidly improving school. Barton Manor Free School, is an 11–18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury which opened to Year 7 in September 2022.

For September 2022, the Governors wish to appoint a highly qualified Lead Teacher of Business Studies. This offers an excellent opportunity to work in a very good school (Ofsted Good with many outstanding features, Feb 2020). This role would suit an enthusiastic candidate considering their first Lead Teacher role or a more experienced professional looking to further their expertise. The ability to teach up to L3 BTEC is essential.

Barton Court Grammar School is an 11-18 years, selective, co-educational, Grammar school in Canterbury, Kent. The School is highly popular and is oversubscribed.

Barton Court is the lead school in the Barton Court Academy Trust which provides staff with opportunities to significantly contribute to the CPD of colleagues within the Trust and support and develop the curriculum being designed at the Barton Manor Free School, which opened in September 2022. In addition colleagues within the school take advantage of planned opportunities to be part of our Staff Drive team, as well as pioneering work in relation to staff workload and well-being.
