Capital City Academy is seeking an inspirational Lead Teacher of DT to lead our developing Design Technology department for September 2023. The Art & Design department is very well established with an impressive breadth including 3D design, Photography, Graphics, Fine Art, Textiles and Drawing. Capital has been awarded the Artsmark Gold and has the Arts as one of its two key specialisms alongside Sport. The Catering department, although small, is very successful and the student of Catering is continually popular. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and qualifications and be willing to work hard to support all facets of teaching and learning in Art & Design, leading the DT specialisms, be reflective and innovative and will share the school’s vision and the belief that Capital City Academy provides an exceptional environment for academic and sporting excellence. From September 2023, Capital will be part of the very successful Harris Federation. This move will bring many benefits to Capital’s pupils and staff. As part of the Harris Federation, our school will have access to a consultant team of 70 leading subject specialists whose job is to create excellence in every component of the curriculum. Pupils from the academy will participate in initiatives such as the Harris Experience, designed to broaden the cultural and academic experiences of the most academically promising young people, and which has helped ensure Harris pupils now attend Russell Group universities at a rate of more than twice the national average.

Our location

Located in the heart of Brent, North West London, we benefit from excellent transport links throughout our local area. Several tube lines are within walking distance and there are numerous bus routes for journeys across our capital. Our modern, dramatic glass building was designed by the world-renowned architect Norman Foster. Foster and Partners has been responsible for many iconic buildings, including Apple Park, Heathrow Terminal 2 and The Gherkin in the City of London.

We have exemplary facilities for our staff and students. Sports are excellently catered for with several tennis courts, an all weather pitch, and a gymnasium with tiered seating used by top-flight basketball team London Elite. Likewise the art that adorns our walls is developing in our multitude of workshops and specialist textiles, machinery or media suites. Our science faculty has specialist teaching laboratories, as well as a new T level Healthcare practice facility.
