Job overview

We are looking for an experienced teacher to join our school as a Lead Teacher of Design and Technology on a full time, permanent basis from September 2024.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our teaching and learning team, alongside the Assistant Principal for Classroom Practice, to build and realise the shared vision of excellence and high standards for all students. This would include developing the pedagogy within the department, delivering CPD, and increasing the enrichment opportunities we offer to the students. They would work with Trust wide lead practitioners to continue to improve the outcomes of the department and train and support new teachers looking to start their teaching journeys. Other responsibilities include supporting the leadership of the Design and Technology department by being accountable for the teaching and learning across a variety of specialisms (Food Technology, Textiles, Product Design and Construction at KS4).

We are looking to grow our Design & Technology department by increasing our KS3 curriculum hours to allow all our students full access to all specialisms, taught in subject specialist rooms by specialist teachers. At KS4 our most popular options include Hospitality & Catering, Product Design and Construction, and we aim to be able to offer these subjects to more students by expanding the department.
