Our school is growing to over 300 students next year. To cater for that we need to expand our teaching team in Mathematics. You'll be teaching KS4 and KS5 students to GCSE and A-level and making a contribution to Mathematics support for students studying Engineering at KS5. The team is small and you'll have direct responsibility for KS4 provision in the subject.
Greater Peterborough UTC is one of 50 schools nationwide that focus on 14-19 education and have specialist subjects at the heart of their curriculum. Our specialisms are in Engineering and Built Environment - both subjects that require a high degree of numeracy. We aim to help a considerable number of students into careers in these industries where apprenticeship requirements often include grades in Maths and Science.
Consequently the role of the Mathematics team is a crucial one as their work determines the academic and vocational destinations of all our students. The consistent challenge is always on making connections between the core academic subjects and the specialist ones - which is an area where Maths can play a significant part.
We are based in a new building on the campus of Peterborough Regional College. The UTC is sponsored by significant local and regional employers in our specialist sectors, with Anglian Water contributing as our Lead Sponsor.
We will always be a small school (400 maximum), your team will never be large but you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the experience of the young people focused on developing their careers and interest in our specialist subjects.
