The University Collegiate School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspiring Lead Teacher of Maths , starting from September 2024 or sooner if available.

The primary role of lead teacher of Maths is to work with the Maths department to develop quality first teaching and improve the progress of students. You will work with the Head of Department and the wider leadership team to improve the Maths offer across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

You will have a proven track record of success and be a role model to others. You will be expected to have a strong understanding and appreciation of the maths curriculum, pedagogy, and current developments within the teaching of maths.

The ideal candidate will have both the commitment and ability to enthuse and motivate our students to ensure excellent progress is made by all. They will be a dynamic teacher who encourages a love for the subject through both their teaching and their involvement in co-curricular offers. The successful candidate should have a genuine passion for the subject, the ability to be an outstanding teacher of their subject and be committed to raising achievement, raising aspirations and going the extra mile.

Under the direction of the Headteacher, you will carry out the professional duties of the subject as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and in line with the approved career stage expectations.

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Maths, Senior Leaders and the subject team to provide professional subject leadership and management for the department across the School and Sixth Form College. You will deliver high quality teaching, effectively using the up-to-date facilities and innovative approaches and aiming to raise standards of learning and achievement for all students. As a successful teacher, you will provide a role model to all.

You will teach in accordance with the ethos, organisation and policies of the QUEST as a fully committed member of the Trust teaching team and as detailed in the specific duties below.

The UCS is a University Technical College encompassing Key Stage 3 and 4, along with a sixth form provision.  

The UCS is located on the University of Bolton campus. The UCS has an outstanding £10 million facility for 11 to 19 year olds which includes specialist laboratories. Our facilities uniquely inspire and motivate our students to succeed in their studies and propel their careers forward.

To accommodate the growing student numbers, a new key stage 3 extension is underway and is scheduled to open in 2025, along with our Multi Use Games Area set to open in September 2024.
