Job overview

We are currently looking for a Lead Teacher of Music to join our Junior School Vlaskamp (JSV) campus in a beautiful city of The Hague from August 2023. The position is full-time and offered on a one-year fixed-term contract (with the possibility to extend).

Our JSV campus opened in 1997 and is a four-form entry primary school and there are around 550 students.

The Netherlands is one of the most welcoming of all EU member countries to professionals working abroad and is a very pleasant country in which to live and work. The Netherlands regularly tops surveys on child wellbeing. The working language of The BSN is English. The Dutch are excellent linguists and English is widely spoken by around 70% of the population. 


Transport services and connections are excellent - our campuses are located in The Hague, just 30 or so minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport, or in the other direction, from the Hoek of Holland ferry terminal. Public transport is fast, reliable and generally good value for money, but many choose the truly Dutch option of cycling, making good use of the highly developed network of cycle paths.

The role:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to a lead a small dedicated team, and to teach motivated and resilient students in an exciting and well-resourced department. The role covers Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

 

What’s expected:

You must be an experienced Music Teacher and have knowledge of the English National Curriculum.

 

The Music Department has a tradition of being a vibrant and successful part of our school with regular performances taking place throughout the year so there is an expectation to support the breadth of opportunities through delivering activities beyond the curriculum and working day.

 

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and positive professional who can combine their experience of and passion for the music curriculum with the ability to inspire our students and enhance a talented team. You will be an enthusiastic classroom practitioner with the skills and determination to ensure exciting learning and outstanding academic progress for students of all abilities.
