The Ferrers School is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic & highly motivated professional to play a key part in our mathematics department. 

This is a unique opportunity for a leader who is an outstanding teacher, able to model excellence in teaching while also securing hearts and minds as a leader. We are looking for someone who can think strategically, working closely with the Curriculum Leader for Maths, to drive up standards across all key stages. We strive to bring about rapid improvement to secure better progress for our learners.

The successful candidate will be a highly committed leader and team player, with a true passion for mathematics and an understanding of the strategies required to motivate and inspire students. They will work in close partnership with middle leaders and the leadership team, embedding The Ferrers Framework and harnessing our research-informed culture to support outstanding classroom practice.

We are looking for someone who understands the value of high-quality assessment and uses this to drive planning and progress. The successful candidate will be expected to draw upon the latest resources and teaching methods in delivering mathematics across the ability range at KS3, KS4 and KS5, incorporating the use of investigational and practical work as well as ICT. 

We would welcome applications from any experienced teacher and leader who is keen to immerse themselves in a hardworking, supportive, forward looking department at a time when education, both in this school and nationally, is undergoing significant changes. We are looking to appoint someone who can manage change, think strategically and lead a team with relentless optimism.

This is an exciting time to join the school. We have secured positive student outcomes and the progress made by the school is echoed in our recent OFSTED inspection. From September 2023 we are launching our own independent Sixth Form as we implement our planned withdrawal from a collaborative provision with neighbouring schools. This increased autonomy will serve to enhance our 11-18 provision to ensure that it best meets the needs of our students and local community.

The Ferrers School is a mainstream secondary academy for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire, and there are just under 1,000 pupils on its roll.
