LEAD TEACHER OF RE AND PSHCE

Full-time Permanent

Main Scale/UPS TLR 2.1 (£2,639)

Closing Date:  9am Tuesday 23rd May

Interview Date:  As soon as possible after 23rd May

Start Date: 1st September 2017

Tarleton Academy is a vibrant and ambitious school with a culture of high expectations. We are now looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Lead Teacher of RE to join our Humanities Faculty and to lead the delivery of our whole school PSHCE programme. Exciting and innovative teachers of RE are therefore invited to apply for a vacancy in a creative, supportive, driven and forward thinking Humanities Faculty.

The successful candidate will join a thriving Academy with a relentless focus on providing outstanding learning experiences and raising achievement.  Working as part of our close knit team you will inspire and develop outstanding classroom practice with high aspirations for students. Through your passion for learning you will develop new and creative ideas, embedding an enjoyment of your subject into lessons and the faculty by sharing good practice. You will work with a committed team of specialist humanities teachers.

As a teacher in the Faculty you will be involved in reviewing and developing schemes of work and resources, addressing gaps in attainment of underachieving students and ensuring progression for the classes you teach.  In addition, you will take on the responsibility for the school’s PSHCE programme supported by the Humanities Faculty.

As part of the interview process candidates will be required to teach, potentially at short notice, a challenging lesson on a topic of your own choice to a Year 9 mixed ability group that would inspire students to take GCSE RE.

Candidates should ensure that they and their referees are easily contactable, with the correct phone number and email address and able to reply promptly if references are requested.

Prospective candidates are welcome to contact the school for a tour prior to the final application.
