Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our senior leadership team at North East Essex Co-operative Academy. The Leader of ASR/Medical will:

* Work closely with the Education Access Team at the Local Authority to ensure pupils identified through the Education Access Team receive an education

* Work in partnership with the other schools to ensure the effective day to day leadership and management of ASR (Anxious School Refusers)/Medical referrals

* Through partnership work, support schools with the reintegration of a pupil at the end of their referral journey to ensure the needs of the individual pupils are met.

We are an Alternative Provision School for pupils aged 5-16, most of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school. We are very proud of the provision we offer, which is down to the great work our teachers and support staff do to re-engage young people with education. Students are taught in small groups enabling them to make good progress as teachers can ensure the learning is tailored to individual student needs.

At Key Stage 3, in partnership with local schools, we focus on supporting young people to return to a mainstream school. At Key Stage 4, we focus on providing the opportunity for students to gain 5 GCSEs to ensure a successful transition to post 16 education or training. Many of the young people who attend NEECA arrive here at a point of crisis or conflict in their lives. It is our aim to ensure that we help them to regain a sense of confidence and self-esteem which allows them to compete on equal terms with their peers, despite the disruption to their education caused by leaving mainstream school.

It is a very exciting time for the school as we have just moved into our brand new building. This has been a multi-million pound capital build programme and we are really excited that our students have a school they can be proud of.

The role will be paid at LD9-13 (£53,973 to £59,558 pay award pending September 2023).

The role is to ideally start immediately, but for the right candidate 1st September 2023.
