Leader of Learning Area, Mathematics

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced motivated teacher who is able to lead a large secondary school Mathematics Department with confidence.

Selwyn College is seeking to appoint a new Leader of the Learning Area, Mathematics to commence the academic school year 2020. This is a significant and influential position in the school and therefore carries additional remuneration.

You’ll need to have a successful background in teaching Maths and be confident chairing team meetings and moderating student assessments.   The ability to manage, mentor and support a team of 12 Maths teachers, who are at various stages of their careers, is essential.  You will be providing leadership and support to each team member to help advance their individual strengths and develop each team members career.   

Selwyn College is a co-educational school located in the Eastern suburbs of Auckland for years 9 -13 (13 - 18 age range ) with 1200 students predominantly from the immediate neighbourhood.

Relevant Skills and experience:

• Hold a relevant qualification in Mathematics and a recognised initial teacher education qualification
• Experience and be confident in teaching Maths to senior level students
