Who we are

Uptown is a three programme IB school from Pre K to Grade 12. Our Primary school has recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary while our secondary school opened its doors just three years ago. Our first Diploma Programme students will be entering Grade 12 in September 2016. We are an inclusive school who also cater to the highest attaining students. We have at our heart the belief that all students can be successful with the right mixture of time, motivation and support.

We are proud to be one of few all through IB schools in the UAE and uphold the IB philosophy in all that we do. The result is a community of students, parents and staff that are highly supportive of the aims of the school and work together to maximize the opportunities for all.

Who you are

We are seeking a dynamic Leader of Mathematics to lead across the MYP and DP. We want someone who wishes to engender a love of mathematics in the students, not just teach them to pass a test. A teacher who puts the students’ needs first and is constantly reflecting on their practice, looking for better ways to achieve even better outcomes. Someone who enjoys collaborating with others and remains positive, even on the bad days! Ultimately, someone who takes pride in their work and leads themselves.

Experience of teaching the IB programmes would be an advantage, as would
experience of working in Dubai. However, a demonstrable alignment with the ethos of the IB and a genuine commitment to international mindedness, would
compensate in many ways. Experience of using effective differentiation and
assessment techniques are, however, essential.
