Al Shohub is looking for a positive, driven, and inspirational leader of MOE subjects to join our team from August 2023 to drive our MOE subjects towards outstanding.

THE SCHOOL

Al Shohub Private School was founded in 1999 by Her Highness Sheikha Shaikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan to provide exceptional education in Abu Dhabi.

We are located in the heart of Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi in a purpose-built educational facility. Al Shohub is a British curriculum through school offering places from FS to Year 13 with co-ed provision from FS to Year 6 and an all-girls environment in secondary. 

The large majority of our students are Emiratis. Our school is deeply rooted in the values of the Emirati community, driven by the aspirations of parents, and guided by the requirements of our regulatory body, ADEK.

THE ROLE

Professional Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Effectively manage the curriculums of the Arabic, UAE Social Studies, Moral Education, and Islamic Studies programs and provide leadership in the assessment and development of a standards-based quality, compliant, curriculum
  • Develop the teaching and learning of MOE subjects by evaluating teaching and learning, coaching and mentoring as well as offering CPD opportunities to MOE staff members
  • Model exemplary teaching
  • Engage with our parent community around MOE subjects
  • Be confident in leading MOE subjects within the MOE Inspection Framework criteria

 Teaching and learning:

  • Be reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning and curriculum to reflect this
  • Support SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation

 Assessment and data:

  • Take responsibility for student progress across MOE subjects
  • Consistently and effectively make use of data relating to student’s prior attainment to set well-grounded expectations/targets for pupils, monitor student progress and give clear and constructive feedback
  • Monitor MOE team to meet requirements for assessments and record students’ development using Learning Ladders
  • Use data gathered from assessments to inform decisions regarding further planning, provision, and interventions
  • Provide feedback to parents and carers on students’ progress and development at Parent Teacher conferences and meetings

Behaviour management and duties:

  • Follow the school’s established policies and procedures, e.g., behaviour, code of conduct and child safeguarding policy
  • Model effective class management using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively, when necessary, within the school’s established policies
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils
  • Have high expectations of good conduct, promoting self-control and independence of all learners
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, and academic growth for all students
  • Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s established policies

Wider professional responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events linked to the team
  • Support in organizing and taking part in school events, outings and extra-curricular activities (ECAs) which may take place after school hours
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers with regards to student’s achievements and well-being using school systems/processes such as CPOMS, as appropriate
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • Take initiative of own professional development to secure high quality teaching and for successful execution of roles and responsibilities


REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Studies or a related course
  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a proven track record of excellent classroom and pedagogical practice
  • Suitably qualified to lead/teach MOE subjects
  • Strong ability to use technology to support teaching and learning
  • Be able to engage, motivate and support children, staff and parents
  • Be a reflective practitioner with the ability to think creatively and innovate
  • Be a positive and enthusiastic member of staff
  • Be willing to be fully involved in extra-curricular activities
