Leader of Technology/Teacher of Technology - For a truly unique opportunity read on…..

About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Academy is seeking a talented Leader of Technology or Teacher of Technology to join us for this unique opportunity from September 2020, with the potential for the right candidate to commence earlier. The ideal candidate will be passionate about their subject; looking for a new and exciting challenge; and have the ability, with the support of the Academy’s leadership, to shape, design and implement the re-establishment of Technology to the curriculum at the Academy.

The Academy has been on a transformational journey with regards to its curriculum and now proudly offers its students a broader and balanced curriculum than ever. To complete this journey the Academy is now looking to reintroduce disciplines in Technology, such as Resistant Materials, Product Design and Engineering to enhance its STEM offer. Whilst the Academy had momentarily paused the Technology curriculum offer, it still boasts a plethora of exceptional equipment and fantastic facilities just waiting to be rejuvenated, rekindled and revitalised, with the right candidate being instrumental in shaping the design of the technology curriculum.

We offer an exciting and rewarding place to work with access to the highest quality professional development which ensures you are at the forefront of teaching and learning innovation. Our students are keen to learn and succeed; they appreciate their teachers’ support and dedication. We can offer a bespoke professional development package based on your level of experience and career objectives and have put aside a resource fund to support the reintroduction of this subject area.

Want to know more? Book an informal visit with the Principal to discuss and have a look at the potential facilities to support the re-introduction of this vital STEM subject.

This is a permanent, full time position offerting MPS/UPS commensurate with experience. TLR can be offered for the Leader role and the right candidate, ranging between £2,796 - £4,655. Please view the Job Description which is in-line with the National Teaching Standards.

Working with our academy: In September 2011, The Hundred of Hoo converted to Academy status and just one year later, Ofsted judged the academy as “good with outstanding features”, recognising the relentless focus and ambition that we have.  In September 2015 the academy welcomed its first Reception class thereby extending its age range to 4-year-old children. This exciting provision demonstrates the Academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ academic journey represents a cradle to university principle.

We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the academy has been judged 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our Early Years provision and effectiveness of Leadership and Management.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021.  The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

We strive to offer a range of benefits that all employees can take advantage of which we regularly review and add to - click here to view what you’d receive as a member of staff with Leigh Academies Trust.

Diversity at our core: As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

We require all staff within the Trust to complete an enhanced DBS check as part of our on-boarding process in order to safeguard our students.

Recruitment and hiring during COVID-19:  Despite the challenges we face, recruitment and hiring will continue for all Leigh Academies Trust vacancies with as little disruption as possible over the coming weeks and months.  This is for all senior, teaching and support staff appointments.  Applications will still be reviewed and interviews conducted in a timely manner, although interview activities may vary.  We will still conduct face to face interviews where possible, and will abide by social distancing protocols such as no hand-shaking, using large meeting rooms, etc.  Candidates will be given the option to interview via online video if you cannot attend in person - this can be discussed if your application is shortlisted.  If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch with the LAT Talent Team - talent@latrust.org.uk.
