Learner Pathways Advisor – Careers and Progression

Part Time 18.5hours – Term Time +2week (41 weeks) - Permanent

We have an exciting and highly rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our newly created Learner Pathways Team with a focus on Careers and Progression.  In this role you will be responsible for direct careers and progression support - from pre-entry to on-programme advice, supporting career planning, offering both UCAS and non-UCAS support, and developing students understanding of the world of work and progression to Further or Higher Education. You will be working closely with the Progress Tutor team and supported by the other members of the Learner Pathways Team, to have a constant picture of all career and progression aims, ensuring that learner experiences are supporting progression aims, including accessing extended opportunities. You will take the lead on designing a programme of high aspiration activities to engage our most academically capable learners during their journey at JLC from recruitment to positive destinations. 

John Leggott College is a thriving, successful (OFSTED Grade 2 ‘Good’) 16-19 Sixth Form College and has consistently been in the top 25% of all schools and colleges for A-Level and top 10% for BTEC. The college is located on a pleasant site in Scunthorpe, Nth Lincolnshire and 10-minutes from the M180, which is fed directly from the M18 and then the M1 – you would be able to commute here quite easily from most of the towns and conurbations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, including Pontefract, Doncaster, Sheffield, Grimsby, Lincoln & Hull. The college’s learners are fantastic and JLC are looking for staff who can harness their talent inspiring them to progress and contribute to a positive culture. The successful candidate will:

• Be an experienced Careers Advisor or willing to undertake a Careers Guidance Qualification.

• Be professional, friendly and a good role model for students.

• Have strong administrative skills, especially around data management.

John Leggott College is a mixed, selective, non-denominational, general further education college situated in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It is a 16-plus institution based on a single modern campus close to the town centre, with good access to surrounding rural areas. There are around 1,700 learners at the college, between the ages of 16-19, studying a range of academic and vocational courses.

The college was founded in 1958 as John Leggott Grammar School. The sixth form was established in 1968 in the midst of a Scunthorpe education reorganisation.
