Learning & Innovation Hub Educator

Post description  

  1. Creating inquiry based learning materials that stimulate the natural curiosity of the students and encourage self-directed learning – ideally related to STEM 
  2. Working with students in our new Learning & Innovation Hub, which functions as a learning, project and study space 
  3. Supervising and instructing students during cover lessons in our new Learning & Innovation Hub, including: 
  • printing or preparing cover-forms & taking and managing attendance; 
  • implementing positive behavioral strategies; 
  • working with the timetable schedulers and Assistant Deputy-Director to arrange cover;  
  • returning completed cover-work to teachers

Requirements  

  • bachelor in the educational field; 
  • fluent spoken and written English (additional European languages are an advantage); 
  • flexibility and proven ability to function well in an international team; 
  • ability to use technology as a tool for learning; 
  • willingness to build positive relationships with students; 
  • an innovative approach to learning that encourages student agency, choice, creativity and voice; 
  • good organizational skills; 
  • knowledge of administrative procedures and office practice; 
  • team player; 
  • a commitment to professional growth through reflection and collaboration; 
  • maintains confidentiality regarding students matters and report concerning behavior to the cycle leaders; 
  • adheres to Board of Education policies and procedure

We offer  

  • an appointment based on the Dutch teachers’ collective labour agreement for secondary education (CLA VO) on the relevant pay scale. The specific step in the scale is depending on relevant background and work experience; 
  • a temporary contract from 10-01-2022 until 24-05-2022

  • 8% holiday allowance of the gross annual salary;  
  • an end-of-year allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary;  
  • an extra end-of-year allowance of € 1.200 gross for scale 1-8 (only applicable for non teaching support staff OOP); 
  • an end of scale payment amounting to € 1.567,58 gross for teachers and € 260,03  gross for scale 9 (based on a fulltime position); 
  • a monthly contribution towards travel expenses (if applicable);  
  • a collective/group occupational disability insurance;  
  • the ABP pension scheme;  
  • a number of options for tax benefits regarding e.g. trade union dues, the costs of sports (for instance fitness) membership fees and the purchase of a bicycle (for commuting purposes);  
  • a discount on various insurances (health care, home content, legal aid, liability insurance policies and more).

The European School The Hague is a unique school. We were established in 2012 to educate the children of employees of European Union institutions. We provide a multilingual and multicultural education to Early Years, Primary and Secondary school children, culminating in the European Baccalaureate. We are an officially Accredited European School, administered and partly financed by the Dutch national education system, and accredited by the Board of Governors of the European Schools since December 2012. The European School The Hague (ESH) is part of Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation (in Dutch: Stichting het Rijnlands Lyceum). Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation is an ambitious foundation that offers both primary and secondary education and national and international education. The 1100 staff members at eight schools provide innovative quality education to more than 7000 students with a focus on global citizenship.

The ESH is a unique school. We were established in 2012 to educate the children of employees of European Union institutions. Curriculum

ESH uses the European Schools curriculum. The curriculum incorporates the established 8 Key Competences. Learning is planned in a cross-curriculum manner, linking concepts and skills across subject areas. We also strive to include our core values in our teaching.Early Years involves a cycle of 2 – 2.5 years and the Primary cycle, 5 years. Working at ESH

The ESH has favourable Dutch social and working conditions, and offers a fantastic working environment, located in the international zone of The Hague  (in Dutch: Den Haag). The Hague is a cosmopolitan city with a large expat population and as such offers excellent housing, health and transport facilities.  The ESH maintains a high standard of quality education and therefore we request applicants to provide details of three referees, of which one must be the most recent employer, or the one prior to the current employer. Requirements for teaching positions:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Hons), or equivalent
  • Fully qualified teacher status for secondary education in the country the qualification is obtained, and in the subject applied for (UK/Ireland/Scotland: you have been awarded QTS and have successfully completed - or are exempt from - the statutory induction period)
  • Successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of international curricula
  • Experience teaching pupils in their second language
  • Fluent in the language in which you teach
  • Knowledge of two or more European Union languages preferred
  • Experience working collaboratively in an international environment
