Nelson and Colne College Group is a beacon for educational excellence, made up of a family of colleges – Nelson & Colne College, Lancashire Adult Learning and Accrington & Rossendale College. 

Together the Group forms a Sixth Form, Skills and Technology Centre, University Centre, employer training and adult learning provider delivering exceptional teaching and learning to all ages and at all levels. 


The Exciting Role 

The College Group is looking for a full-time, permanent Learning and Organisation Development Manager to join our dedicated HR team in delivering our People Strategy. The successful candidate will support the development of the organisational culture, embedding the College’s vision and values into the day to day operations of the College. In addition, the postholder will lead the College’s leadership development and professional development programmes. 

We are looking for a candidate with experience of working within an organisation development and/or professional development environment. The role will require collaboration with colleagues across the organisation, so highly effective communication skills are also essential. 

This role will be based at our Accrington and Rossendale College site, however, travel across sites may be required.


What You Will Be Doing

• Play a lead role in embedding the organisational vision, values and culture, to ensure the College is an ‘extraordinary place to work’ with engaged and effective staff working collaboratively. 

• Lead the organisation and facilitation of staff engagement activities, such as the staff voice forum and staff survey, in order to positively impact upon staff satisfaction levels.

• Design and coordinate leadership programmes and activities to enhance leadership capabilities at all levels of the organisation. 

• Be responsible, in partnership with key stakeholders, for the design of the College’s ‘Be Phenomenal’ professional development programmes, ensuring a range of high-quality activities for staff across the organisation. 


What We Are Looking For:

• Degree level qualification in a relevant subject 

• CIPD Level 5 / Qualification in Learning and Development / Training / Teaching

• Significant experience in design and delivery elements of learning and OD activities 

• Experience in planning, designing and delivering multiple projects and initiatives across the business (Organisational and prioritisation skills)

• Experience of supporting the development of leaders and managers, including experience of coaching and mentoring

• Facilitation skills and the confidence to deliver training via various methods – face to face, virtual, video recordings etc.

• Excellent communication skills – including the ability to influence and build relationships with colleagues across all areas of the College Group

• Experience of working with external partners/providers to support learning and OD activities

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
