Job overview

Haberdasher’s Academies Trust South is a well-established Multi Academy Trust, with 5 primary schools and 4 secondary schools, all situated in south-east London. We believe that schools can’t become great places for students to learn and grow unless we make them great places for staff to work and grow.

This is an oversubscribed 11 – 18 school which is well established and highly regarded.  It has a powerful legacy and sits proudly within its’ local community.

The Learning and Progress Officer will work with the College Leadership including the Key Stage 3 Heads of Year and be responsible for supporting the pastoral care and academic progress of students. The key areas of the role will require the successful candidate to effectively manage and supervise the Internal Exclusion Room and the students within it, analysis and support with pupil attendance and punctuality using SIMS, to check up on any students who require additional support, to carry out investigations using our framework for transparency and fairness, to implement appropriate intervention following guidance from College Leaders, to use student data and information insightfully and to work with the Hatcham Leadership Team (HLT) to improve student safety, learning, wellbeing and progress.

The key responsibilities will be to provide capacity, guidance and support to the leadership of pastoral care and conduct across Key Stage 3, with a particular focus on attitude towards learning. Working with targeted groups of students to support their attainment and progress will be important, as will supporting Heads of Years with the day to day running of the year group, including building and maintaining positive relationships with parents and carers, and working with the SEND and Inclusion Team to successfully implement strategies and practices which ensure all students have equal opportunity to learn and succeed.

You will work alongside the Principal and senior leaders as an integral part of the Trust, which will, in turn, offer you the resources and support you need in order to be successful.

We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and would consider flexible working as part of our aim to be an employer of choice.

If you are motivated by working in a challenging and supportive environment where the key outcome is our desire to achieve the very best for our children and young people, we hope you will consider applying to us.
