The Dragon School was founded in 1877 to educate the sons of dons.  From these modest beginnings the School has grown to be an internationally renowned independent day and boarding preparatory school for over 600 boys and girls aged 8 to 13.  In September 1995 the School (which has charitable status) opened a pre-prep called Lynams on the Woodstock Road for about 200 more children aged 4 to 7.

The Dragon was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in November 2014 and was found to be “Excellent” in all areas of teaching and pastoral care and “Exceptional” with regard to “The Quality of Pupils’ Achievements and Learning”.

The staff of over 300 full and part time individuals includes 120 teachers, 35 visiting music and learning support teachers, 30 teaching assistants, 35 pastoral staff and 90 support and administrative staff.  A further range of individuals provide sports coaching and specialist services on a contract basis.

The Dragon is seeking hardworking and dedicated Learning Assistants to start in September 2018 at either our prep or pre-prep site. The successful applicants will need to work in partnership with the Teachers to create a welcoming, happy and stimulating classroom in which children are expected to work enthusiastically and industriously.
