All of the students that attend this day centre have Learning Disabilities, Complex Needs and Communication Barriers like Visual, Hearing or Sensory Impairments. Pay                                                                                                                                                                                 You will be paid on salary at £25,000 to £27,500 per annum. This is a permanent position and is for immediate start but could be flexible depending on your availability.  

The Role

As a PMLD Learning Co-ordinator, it will be your job to support with the day to day running of the day centre including leading a team of Youth Workers, planning activities and props for the students to complete throughout the day and to develop the centre into a fun and multi-sensory environment that allows each learner to explore their environment in a way that is appropriate to their personalised learning plan.  

The responsibilities of a PMLD Learning Co-ordinator at the Day Centre are to take a lead on delivery of a multi-sensory curriculum to engage and enthuse all learners and to lead on a fun and engaging Physical Education programme for students to take part in. You will also be required to assess and monitor progress for a group of clients with profound and multiple learning difficulties and to use ICT effectively and make good use of assessment tools to support learning.

The Setting

The environment in which you will be working will be in a Day Centre which caters for students between 19 and 25 with a wide range of needs from moderate to severe learning difficulties and Complex Needs. The Day Centre is committed to providing a holistic, person-centred service that prioritises the wellbeing and personal progress of every student.

The goal of the centre is to maximise individual outcomes and wellbeing through offering a range of in-house and community-based activities tailored to enable students to achieve their personal goals. There is a strong focus throughout the service to promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing as well as supporting families and carers and preparing students to move into adulthood with friends, relationships and community involvement. 

Requirements 

To be considered for the PMLD Learning Co-ordinator position, you will: 

• Be available Monday to Friday 08:30 – 16.30.

• Be happy to support pupils with personal care (if required).

• Be passionate about and have experience supporting young people with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs and Communication Barriers.

• Can use ICT effectively to support learning.

• Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths

• Level 3 qualification in relevant area or subject.

• Good understanding of lifelong cognitive and communication development and learning processes.

• Full working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice/legislation.
