This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. 

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

This role is pro rata, so the salary you will be receiving is £19,493.70 - £21,364.53 per annum.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

With a specific focus on students who may be experiencing difficulties following enrolment onto their vocational programme of study, the postholder will ensure that students are best supported to remain engaged in study at WCG.

This will include, but is not limited to; regular 1:1 intervention, supporting and leading small group work, liaison with cross college colleagues and support departments, liaison with parents/guardians and supporting agencies, arranging and attending multi-agency interventions and welfare and pastoral support and guidance.

The student client group comes from a variety of backgrounds with various barriers to learning and progression. The young people may be disengaged - such as not being settled. There will be a strong emphasis on supporting personal and social development, enabling students to achieve on their programme and progress onto a further college programme or, into employment or an apprenticeship.

In addition, the post holder will support students in the attendance of GCSE English and maths - acting as a key college contact.

Essential Attainments: 

✓Qualified to Level 3

✓English language and Maths qualifications at Level 2 (e.g. GCSE/functional skills) or above or a willingness to undergo personal skills development to achieve these during the first 12 months of the post.

✓First Aid trained or a willingness to gain the qualification 

✓Recent relevant experience of working with young people

Desirable Attainments: 

✓AET/PTLLS teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve within the first 12 months of employment

✓Previous experience working in the following sectors/roles; Schools/FE, youth leader, youth worker, youth mentor, youth instructor/coach, activities leader, sports coach, charity worker, education leader and SEN support or related positions.  

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

✓Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload

✓Ability to maintain an appropriate record system for recording and monitoring information 

✓Ability to work without direct supervision and manage the duties and workload of the post on a day-to-day basis

✓Experience of using computer packages – Microsoft/Google 

✓Understand the major barriers to learning for the client group.

✓Ability to operate as a team member

✓Promote and sustain contacts within the local business community.

✓Ability to act in a professional and supportive manner with a range of people including external agencies and organisations, staff at all levels, students 

✓Excellent interpersonal skills

✓Flexible approach to work, self-motivated and able to motivate others 

✓Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Equality and Diversity.

✓Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. 

✓Ability to demonstrate behaviours which support the Core Values of the College.
