We’re looking for a Learning Cover Supervisor to join The Meadowcroft Team. Someone with patience and the willingness to use a certain degree of initiative would be perfect for this role. The Supervisors cover lessons in a variety of subject areas and must be flexible and be willing to work in collaboration with the pastoral team.

Meadowcroft is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 19, catering for children with a wide range of needs in 3 sites across Wakefield. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.

About the Role
A Learning Cover Supervisor to provide stability and continuity for students whose lessons are affected through short-term teaching staff absence. To deliver one to one academic interventions (Literacy & Numeracy) to secondary learners and to be an integral part of an exciting new pastoral team.
Who we are looking for
Someone that has good communication skills and has the ability to work under pressure and be part of a new pastoral team. You will have the ability to motivate and manage classes of SEMH pupils. You need to be calm, patient and authoritative so that they quickly develop the ability to have good classroom control and good classroom management skills.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum qualification to degree level
- Common sense and a desire to see young people with SEMH and complex difficulties learn;
- The ability to relate to vulnerable young people;
- A commitment to professional development;
- The self-confidence to support students in a classroom environment on your own;
- Willingness to be involved delivering interventions across school

About Meadowcroft School
Meadowcroft School is a unique special educational needs provision dedicated to ensuring successful outcomes for the most reluctant & troubled learners. The dedicated staff team work tirelessly with pupils who arrive with a distorted view of education and life.
At the Bar Lane site, one-to-one social and emotional support in the classroom and outdoor educational initiatives build pupils’ trust and help unlock their potential to a happy, meaningful and successful adult life.
At The Gallery, small class sizes at the specialist primary provision work in conjunction with the dedicated unit for pupils with more complex needs. As well as its classrooms, pupils are offered appropriate practical life skill lessons in a simulated home setting.
