To strengthen our key objectives of quality, student engagement and scalability, we require a Learning Designer to complete the process of upgrading lessons with interactive content.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise and experience of working in the education or online training system, have knowledge of designing interactive learning experiences with students aged 8 to 18 years old, be familiar with educational technology, online and/or blended delivery and demonstrate enhancements of the student experience through a portfolio of courses.

The successful candidate will report directly into the Head of Educational Technology and will be supporting the Learning Innovation Programme. They will work closely with the VR / AR designers, and the InspiredAI Content Developers. The successful candidate will work extensively with the Heads of Subject and Heads of Key to ensure highly engaging learning content and techniques are used consistently.


Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Be part of a team delivering excellent learning experiences to all our cohorts
  •   Have excellent online, curriculum, learning design and experience design skills
  • Be able to evidence a portfolio of excellent curriculum and/or learning design in school or other educational settings
  • Have a good understanding about educational experience design
  •  Work well in design teams from different disciplines and backgrounds
  • Be able to work remotely with teachers and subject experts
  • Have experience of designing virtual and digital experiences (desirable)
  • Work closely with the Heads of Subject, Heads of Key Stage, and teachers to deliver a world class education to all student cohorts (including personalised support requirements)
  • Undertake any other work as advised by the Head of Educational Technology


Qualifications and Education Requirements

Ideally the candidate will be qualified up to Bachelor’s degree level. Design or teaching qualifications would be an advantage.

  • A flexible, highly energetic approach and the ability to thrive in a business with a fast changing, collaborative, delivery culture.
  • Considerable interpersonal communication skills with the ability to form good relationships.
  • The ability to work independently where necessary but in a collaborative team environment where appropriate.

About Us

Our School is part of the Inspired Education Group

Inspired Online Schools use state-of-the-art digital technology and operates two established divisions – King's InterHigh, a non-selective fee-paying online secondary school, established in 2005 and a B2B division including Academy 21, serving other educational providers, schools, local authorities and other public bodies.

King's InterHigh is the largest online school group in the UK, delivering a fully personalised education online. Our curriculum structure is based on the Key Stages, with IGCSEs offered at KS4 and A Levels at KS5. We teach students online from Key Stage 2 - 5, through a digital platform.

Our successful candidates will join a talented team providing excellent online educational experiences for our students whose ages range between 8 and 18. The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at InterHigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
