Do you believe that everything is possible?

Are you a passionate, reflective, and determined leader who wishes to work with a forward-looking and ambitious science department at an oversubscribed and high performing school?
Are you someone who enjoys being challenged and is not afraid to offer challenge? Are you looking to join a school which is committed to developing innovative approaches to learning and teaching, and leadership and talent management?
Are you someone who does the right thing even when no-one is watching?
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Director for Science to lead all aspects of the faculty. The science department has improved rapidly over the last two years with significant improvements in both attainment and progress at Key Stages 4 and 5, and is now one of our best performing faculty areas. The department offers triple science as an option course for GCSE students, and is a popular option at Key Stage 5 with a large number of students studying all of the science disciplines. We are fully staffed with science specialists (at Key Stage 4 and 5 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and have very good links with ITT providers such as the University of Leicester.
We are looking to appoint a Learning Director who can lead the next stage in the science department’s development by both building upon the successful practice already in place, as well as bringing new ideas and approaches to inspire the faculty further. In return, we can offer the successful applicant the opportunity to work with a team of practitioners who are open to new ideas and are willing to take risks with their own teaching practice, as well as a bespoke leadership development programme which will be tailored to the post holder’s personal ambitions and needs.
Kingsthorpe College is an oversubscribed 11-18 Academy with 1296 students on roll (200+ students Post 16). This is an exciting time for the College and the Trust as we go from strength to strength - OFSTED Good 2015; Section 8 OFSTED Inspection September 2016 confirming previous high standards have been maintained; invited to become a Leading Edge school from April 2017 in recognition of our high performance.
At KC, we don’t value what we measure, we measure what we value.
For us, this is team work.
If you would like to join our team as Learning Director of Science, we would love to hear from you.
