Good Shepherd College (Mount Isa, QLD) is a co-educational Year 7 to 12 college of 500 students. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Learning Support Teachers with a key interest in Enrichment, Inclusion and Support to join our innovative team. The successful applicant will have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum with an informed pedagogy.

Good Shepherd Catholic College is an independent, mainstream, co-educational secondary school in Mount Isa, Queensland.

The school was established as Mount Isa Catholic High School in 1985 and was renamed Good Shepherd Catholic College on in May 2005.

Facilities

The school has the Lumen Christi Centre which compromises a multi-purpose court, classroom and gymnasium, male and female showers and toilets and a canteen. There’s a library precinct, which houses three general learning classrooms, library and resource centre and the College’s ‘sacred space.’

Curriculum

The school provides a ‘holistic education’ through a curriculum that promotes Gospel values and a Catholic view of life.

In the junior curriculum students learn core subjects as well as undertaking a semester unit of Manual Arts, Graphics, Living Technology, Information & Communication Technology, Visual and Media Arts, Music and Drama which become elective subjects in Year 9. 

In Years 11-12 there are a wide range of subjects accredited by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority as well as opportunities to undertake nationally-accredited vocational courses.

The College celebrates various Masses and Liturgies throughout the year.

School ethos

Good Shepherd Catholic College is founded on the charism of Mary MacKillop and Edmund Rice. A charism is defined as a ‘gift from God for the Church and is the special way a person approaches life.’

Fostering faith and spirituality is the ‘primary goal’ of the school. They believe in the ‘uniqueness and dignity of each individual.’ The ethos of the school is to ‘encourage each member of our community to be inner-directed, responsible, compassionate and just.’
