Job overview
Are you ready to be a champion for student success? Join us as a Learning Manager, where you will play a critical role in nurturing student potential by focusing on welfare, strategic intervention, and data-driven monitoring. This position is perfect for someone passionate about removing academic and behavioural barriers to learning, ensuring all students thrive in a supportive educational setting, and effectively managing complex student cases in collaboration with external agencies.
Welcome from the Principal
As Principal of Outwood Academy Hindley, I am excited to introduce you to Outwood Academy Hindley. We are very proud to be a school that has been recognised as a school that is 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted. The report recognised our 'culture of care' and the welcoming environment that you would be joining if you were a member of staff here. There was also recognition of the 'strong emphasis on staff development'; if you are passionate about education and improving your practice, you are guaranteed to be given excellent CPD opportunities. Additionally, I am proud to describe our school as an Inclusion Quality Mark ‘Centre of Excellence’ in recognition of the inclusive and welcoming culture of our school.
Our Academy, which is based in Hindley in Wigan, became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2022 and as a member of the Outwood Family, we believe in putting Students First, raising standards and transforming lives. We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking applications from outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. Our Learning Manager team is one of the great strengths of the academy, and they support students pastorally and academically in order to ensure that they are successful in the widest sense in school. Working as part of the wider inclusion team, you will monitor all students in a particular year group, providing them with a familiar, friendly face and an excellent role model. You will need to have a good understanding of the wide range of challenges experienced by secondary school students, but in particular, the problems that our most vulnerable students face.
You will work closely with the Inclusion Team and the Vice Principal Deep Support on intervention strategies to support the academic achievement of all students. Your role will have an emphasis on intervention and student tracking using the school’s “Praising Stars” system. You will attend case conferences and other meetings regarding students in your year, alongside preparing referrals and reports for those students identified as needing intervention.
You will contribute to an atmosphere of respect, recognition, optimism, celebration and mutual support in the school, which promotes equality within and values the diversity of the school community.
We would love you to visit us and find out more. As such, prospective applicants are welcome to contact us if they have any questions or would like to arrange a tour of the academy and have a chance to meet some of our wonderful students. Please contact M Allen at m.allen@hindley.outwood.com should you wish to visit the school and have a tour of the departments to see what we have to offer.
If you share our vision, then why not join our family?
