Required for September 2019, the Learning Support department is seeking to appoint a Learning Mentor. This would be an ideal role for somebody considering a role in teaching.
The Learning Mentor will work with pupils on both a one-to one and small-group basis, offering study skills support and developing pupils’ literacy skills. The postholder will also assist with the running of revision clinics and invigilation of internal exams.
The successful candidate will be able to support and motivate young people, communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents and be proactive in encouraging pupils to access the support provisions which are available to them.
The Learning Mentor will also support pupils pastorally by being a tutor to a number of pupils in year 9, 10 or 11. As tutor, they will deliver the Floreat wellbeing programme to their tutees and also meet with tutees for fortnightly reflections meetings.
Initiative, flexibility and the ability to relate to young people are essential.
The role is full time during College term time (33 weeks).
Hours of work are 11am to 8pm.
