Charterhouse seeks to appoint, for September 2024, an inspirational and passionate Learning Mentor on a fixed-term basis for two academic years (until early July 2026). There may be an opportunity to extend this beyond the two years for the right candidate.
The Educational Support Department at Charterhouse exists to help pupils develop their learning skills so that they can fully access the School’s curriculum and achieve outstanding examination performance.
This post is a superb opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, recent graduate, or someone considering a career in education at one of the country’s finest schools. The successful candidate will show the potential to support and develop our neurodivergent pupils to meet their potential and achieve their goals. Candidates may wish to play a full and active role in many aspects of school life.
The Learning Mentor will work with individual pupils and small groups under the guidance of the Head of Educational Support to develop their learning skills and confidence. For example, this might involve helping them structure an English homework assignment or explore their research skills as part of a project to be undertaken in class.
Working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (days and times are flexible, including evenings), term time only, plus 5 working days (total) immediately prior to the beginning of terms in order to take part in School in-service training.

The post-holder will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children with whom he/she comes into contact.
