Kirkby High School seek an enthusiastic, reliable, outgoing and well-motivated individual to join our community.
A proven track record of working with children and young people, their parents, and a range of professionals within and beyond the school to ensure that every student is supported to make the best progress possible.
We have very high expectations of all staff and for the right person this is a superb opportunity. It is essential that the applicant is educated to GCSE level and has obtained 5 GCSEs and ideally GCSEs in English and maths to grade C (4) or above.
There will be a comprehensive induction programme for all new staff, run by the Rowan Learning Trust. You will be working in a modern, well resourced, supportive environment, which has excellent facilities.
There are currently 906 students at the school. The school ethos is central to our mission of “Excellence for All”.
Our latest Ofsted inspection (December 2018) judged three criteria as ‘Good’ – effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and personal development, behaviour and welfare. Inspectors highlighted the vastly improved leadership and high ambitions which has helped to improve the quality of teaching and pupils’ behaviour.
Kirkby High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and adheres to the Equality Act 2010. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment; any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of an enhanced DBS disclosure. Kirkby High School is an Ofsted rated 'Good' 11-16 mixed comprehensive of around 1000 students where we continually strive to provide the highest standards for our whole school community. All staff at Kirkby High School fully embrace our mission: Maximising our Potential. Leading this wonderful school fills me with great pride.
Kirkby High School stands at the centre of our local community and we believe that we offer our young people guidance and aspiration to be the best they can be in all aspects of life. We want to provide all students with the opportunities to develop into well-rounded individuals, successfully both academically and personally. We are determined to ensure every child reaches their potential. Our vision is a community driven by high expectations and mutual respect providing all individuals with the belief and opportunities to succeed now and in the future.
We believe in building a culture of resilience, kindness, respect, aspiration and confidence in which our students can thrive. These are our Kirkby Child values. These values are a set of core principles for our students and underpin the whole ethos of our school.
Strong partnership between school and home is key in developing young people successfully. Because this is crucial, parents/carers are invited to phone school anytime or to arrange to come into school for a visit and a tour. I am more than happy to accommodate this personally.
I hope you find all the information you need on our website. If you wish to know more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
