Vision for Education SEND are a specialist recruitment department that focus solely on recruiting teaching professionals for Alternative Provisions, Special Schools and Virtual Schools in the Greater Manchester Area.

Working with the LEA, the successful candidate will be responsible for the Social and Emotional development of a cohort of LAC under their supervision. This diverse role needs a patient, calm and empathetic person, who also has the ability to engage young people and motivate them to achieve.

Learning Mentor responsibility:

  • Key point of contact between student and the scheme
  • Engage through use of creative, positive relationship forming sessions: Taking place at the student’s residence or in a pre-allocated centre
  • Making observations based on student’s behaviour, and recording any ‘antecedence’ potentially leading to any undesirable behaviours
  • Recording all actions taken to overcome undesirable behaviour
  • Planning sessions based on the behavioural analysis, and recording anything salient to student; with a view to inform planning for future sessions
  • Liaising with Designated Teacher and Project Co-ordinator once per week to discuss progress according to behavioural analysis; set both behavioural and academic weekly targets based on this progress
  • Using knowledge and information gained through the recording of data, offer professional recommendation as to whether student should make progress through the project stages

Successful candidates must be enthusiastic, committed and have a passion for teaching children of Secondary school age. The salary for this position will be between £70 and £90 per day depending on experience.
