Smart Teachers is recruiting for a Learning Mentor for an alternative provision in Ealing. This is a ‘Good’ school, which caters for secondary pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools. The Learning Mentor will be working with students with SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) difficulties and can display challenging behaviours. Ideally, the Learning Mentor will have an interest or background in Physical Education (PE) and Information Technology (IT). This role is to start ASAP with a possibility of a long-term/permanent role for the right candidate.

• Assisting the class teacher in duties such as preparing resources and managing pupil behaviour

• Providing feedback on pupil progress 

• Role to begin ASAP, with the opportunity for a long-term role for the right candidate

• Daily rate from £70 depending on experience

• Ofsted rated ‘Good’

• Caters for children who have been excluded from mainstream schools who have SEMH difficulties and other special educational needs

• Pupils likely not working at an age-appropriate level

• Students can display challenging behaviours

• Small class sizes with 2-3 support staff in each class 

• Students aged from 11-16 years old

• Supportive and passionate senior leadership team 

• Parking on site and close to overground transport links 

In order to be considered for this role, the Learning Mentor will need to meet the following criteria:

• Have recent classroom experience in the UK (minimum 6 weeks essential)

• Previous experience with SEN (SEMH, ASD, MLD, SLD, PMLD, complex needs) 

• Recent restraint training (desirable)

• Have strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills

• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
