About the role

·         To liaise and work closely with external agencies, including attendance of off-site meetings, to support pupils and their families as part of the mentoring process.

·         To provide written reports for and to represent the academy at conferences and meetings, including with outside agencies to support children and their families.

·         To work with individual pupils who have been identified as underperforming or through the referral route to identify and investigate barriers to learning.

·         To contact parents/carers regularly by telephone or home visits where necessary to discuss specific issues; keep accurate records of agreed outcomes.

·         To respond to emotionally demanding behaviours and situations as a result of dealing with pupils and parent/carers individual circumstances.

·         Liaise with teaching staff and SENDCo, and monitor the progress of pupils using the mentoring service to ensure the Learning Mentor support is relevant to the curriculum and/or the needs of the individual so that support has continuity.

·         Compile records and progress reports for students as appropriate for the mentoring process and make accessible to appropriate members of staff so that the mentoring is accountable and quantifiable in terms of its effectiveness.

(37 hours per week, term time only. Fixed term until July 2023)

Who we are looking for

GCSE C's or above in both English and Mathematics

Previous experience of providing classroom/behaviour support, working with children within a primary school setting.

Experience of establishing good relationships with children whilst establishing firm boundaries.

Experience of working creatively with children to identify strengths and development with children.

Experience of administrative procedures with evidence of capability to work on own initiative.

Experience of community involvement.

Experience of working with a range of agencies.

To be able to maintain accurate records and reports

Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude to working with challenging children.
