We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly motivated Learning Mentor (SEND) to join our dedicated Inclusion Team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people by supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

As a large, secondary school in Oldham, we are proud of our inclusive ethos and our commitment to ensuring every student feels valued, supported and able to succeed. We are looking for someone who shares these values and is passionate about removing barriers to learning.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience of working with young people, particularly those with SEND and additional needs.

  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Can motivate, inspire and build positive relationships with students.

  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable.

  • Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience of supporting students with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, or other additional learning needs would be advantageous.

Saint John Henry Newman Catholic College is a Catholic Secondary School located in Chadderton, Greater Manchester. It falls under the  Diocese of Salford.

The school was formed in 2011 from the amalgamation of St Augustine of Canterbury RC High School in Werneth, Oldham and Our Lady’s RC High School in Royton. The merged school was originally based over the two former school sites, but moved to a new building.
