Job overview

We are seeking to fill the Director position of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) beginning August 2019. The job entails managing the LRC Department and overseeing five staff members across the Upper and Lower School Divisions.  

Specific responsibilities:  

  • Enrolling students in the LRC
  • Managing the LRC database
  • Assigning students to LRC case managers
  • Holding weekly LRC staff meetings
  • Reviewing case managers’ bi-yearly progress reports
  • Carrying a caseload of 5-6 students and writing progress reports
  • Attending yearly LSP and Transition meetings as needed
  • Liasioning with Administration, College Counseling, IB Coordinator, AP Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, School Counselors, School Nurses, Residential Life, Admissions and the Business Office, as needed
  • Participating in weekly Student Support Team meetings and carrying out necessary action steps
  • Weekly individual meetings with the Headmaster
  • Applying to external testing agencies for student accommodations
  • Assisting families with outside testing accommodations as needed
  • Managing the External Testing Agency database
  • Organizing psycho-educational evaluations within and outside of TASIS
  • Attending monthly Academic Steering Committee (ASC) meetings
  • Preparing yearly reports to the ASC and/or the Board of Directors
  • Managing a billing spreadsheet and fiscal budget
  • Updating faculty and student handbooks
  • Meeting with parents and faculty as needed
  • Organizing Professional Development workshops
  • Continued research into Best Practice Policies
  • Administrative and chaperone duties as needed

Summary of education background and professional experience:

  • A Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Psychology and/or Special Education
  • Expertise in psycho-educational evaluations
  • Knowledge of remediation programs for specific learning disabilities
  • Experience with differentiation in the classroom
  • Experience working within a school setting (preferably boarding school)
  • Awareness of accommodation policies of external testing agencies 

Professional skills:

  • An understanding of the interplay amongst learning differences, psychiatric diagnoses, and academic, psychological/emotional functioning
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Flexible problem solving
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
