Job overview

Learning Resource Leader / Librarian

Required as soon as possible but we will wait for the right candidate.

Do you want to change lives?

Are you the amazing dynamic person we have been looking for?  You may be a qualified teacher or a fabulous ‘muggle’

We want every child to develop or sustain a deep passion and interest in reading.

  • We want books to be firmly at the centre of the map in their lives and in the heart of our Academy.
  • Every child deserves to feel empowered through reading and that will be your mission.
  • We seek to transform, to arm students with a love of language and reading for life.
  • We desperately want someone to bring passion, enthusiasm and drive as we all work together to excite each student to learn and be hungry for literature and reading.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our ambitious and caring Academy family. We are looking for a motivated and highly organised individual with a passion for reading, who shares our ambition to help all the students in our care achieve their fullest potential. You undertake the day-to-day responsibilities of the Learning Resource Hub (LRH) and ensure a welcoming, safe and enjoyable space for each of our students to discover books and all the enjoyment that comes from reading. There will be students who already enjoy reading – keep them enthused. There will be students who avoid reading or feel anxious about low literacy – don’t give up on them – they need you most!

You do not have to be an expert in Library systems as this can be learned, but we do want energy and a passion for reading.  If you have this we welcome your application and will support you to gain the technical expertise.

The school LRH is a key learning environment, serving all students, and staff. Working with key staff you will ensure that the LRH is a welcoming, vibrant, ambitious and stimulating environment, which provides engaging resources to contribute to wider curriculum learning, improve literacy for all groups of learners, develop their social and emotional resilience alongside our SMSC aims and develop independent study.

We look forward to hearing about your ideas for clubs and how the LRH will promote reading outside lesson times.

We have just switched to an exciting, new to us, library system called ‘Accessit’ The next phase is to roll this out to the Academy community and to give your attention to making the space even more inviting and exciting, so that books look interesting and call out to students to be picked up and devoured. If you are excited by this challenge, we look forward to receiving your application. If you show us a passion and enthusiasm for reading and developing this in every child – you will be offered an interview.

Bexhill Academy is a unique and extremely caring community family. We are full of interesting characters who stand together with one aim: to give every child the best experience so that we build minds and confidence. If successful, you will be part of a caring family.
