Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill is an independent school in Wembley, London offering two tracks: the French curriculum in a bilingual environment and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme following on from the English International Programme (EIP). 

The school opened its doors in September 2015 and now welcomes 850 students from Year 1 to Year 13. Located in the splendid, historic and entirely renovated Brent Town Hall, the Lycée offers state-of-the-art facilities and learning tools where the art and happiness of learning and teaching rule.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Reporting to the Head of Student Wellbeing and Learning Support Service;
• Supporting learning and emotional needs through individual, group, class year and key stage/ cycle interventions;
• Management of referrals and concerns for cognitive barriers to learning;
• Maintain ongoing and weekly updated referrals and provision for individual sessions and small group through informing the Special needs register;
• Create and monitor Individual Personal Plans (PAPs) showing monitoring and progression;
• Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as necessary including parents, teachers, colleagues, multidisciplinary teams, external professionals and continuing / future education establishments to best support students and updating the Assemblies and Events document;
• Discover and implement necessary tools and resources to best support our students and to share these ideas with parents and staff; building a bank of online resources to support current social and emotional needs and issues pertinent to the school population;
• Implement, inform and develop the LIL Personal, Social, Health and Emotional curriculum in conjunction with faculty and pastoral staff: School nurse, Social Emotional Counselor, career services, civiques, performing art, sports and Faculty departments where appropriate;
• Provide training and ongoing support for student peer tutors and study skills across primary and secondary;
• Work with the school’s commitment to the Common Sense Media programme which helps schools, parents and children to prepare emotionally, socially and responsibly for digital wellbeing.

Education & Experience Required

• Ideally qualified in Child Psychology, and/or Teacher training to deal with learning difficulties (such as dyspraxia and dyslexia); 
• Bilingual in English and French (speaking in French with students and parents);
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Experience in a school setting working with students aged 4-18  with understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people;
• A proven commitment to confidentiality and the safeguarding and welfare of children;
• Experience with differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs of all students;
• Experience and commitment to collaborative working in a team-focused environment;
• An ability to provide strategy support in all levels of English, French, Maths and Science;
• Significant recent professional development;
• Commitment to and facility with integration of technology in the service of student learning;
• Willingness to contribute to school life and activities in additional ways through coaching, advising and special projects;
• Ability to support and nurture the school-home partnership.

Desirable qualifications / experience: 

• Learning support experience in an international environment;
• Experience  and further qualifications in working with specific learning difficulties; 
• Knowledge and understanding of international and/or independent school communities;
• Awareness of a range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds.

This job description sets out the duties of the post at the time it was drawn up.  The post holder may be required from time to time to undertake other duties within the School as may be reasonable expected, without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed.  This is a common occurrence and would not justify a reconsideration of the grading of the post.
