At Ark Secondary, we are currently seeking three Learning Support Assistant positions (referred to as an LSA), who will all provide specific and direct support to children with Special Educational needs or a Disability (SEND), ensuring that these children make good progress in all academic areas across all subjects. The position will be with KS3 subjects. Line Managed by the SENCo and working alongside class teachers, Pastoral staff and external professionals to provide in-class support and small-group interventions. These roles require a flexible approach, good organisational and administrative skills.
A calm and patient manner are essential, as is a nurturing approach. A good understanding of the academy’s teaching and learning and behaviour policies are desirable, and specific training will be provided to support you in the role. The ability to liaise with all staff and the parents of the children you will support is essential and will all form part of your role.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have the Right to work in the UK
- Hold GCSE English & Maths grade C and above, or equivalent
- Be experienced in raising or the desire to raise attainment in a challenging classroom environment
- Have proven experience working or the desire to work successfully with students of all abilities
- Be committed to Ark’s ethos of high expectations and no excuses and the belief that every child can succeed

Curriculum
Our curriculum model is based on the values as outlined in the Ark Academy DNA. Depth for breadth confirms our emphasis on firm foundations in English, mathematics and science which are supported by a broad range of subjects throughout KS3 and a balanced option process in KS4.
With 30 periods per week of formal classes (55minutes per lesson) we are able to provide every student with a rich and varied curriculum, supplemented by an extended curriculum including both enrichment sessions and study support..

In their first full inspection of Ark Academy, Ofsted inspectors have rated the academy as an outstanding school with outstanding capacity for sustained further improvement. Ofsted’s main conclusion was that:
“The new school has quickly established high expectations and secured impressive progress in the short period since opening. Pupils make outstanding progress in their studies. They greatly enjoy coming to school and attendance is high. Pupils behave well and they respond enthusiastically to the growing team of dedicated staff. Relationships between adults and pupils are very positive and help to promote above average attainment.”
