Pioneer is a very successful special school providing for children and young people between the ages of 3 to 19 with Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties. We have purpose built facilities and an opportunity has arisen to join our team in this exciting environment.
We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant Apprentice to work in partnership with class teachers to support pupils’ learning in line with codes of practice and school policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be required to attend to pupils’ personal needs, helping with social, welfare, care and health matters, which may include toileting, dressing, feeding and mobility.
You will complete a Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in the Classroom. You may also be required to complete Literacy, Numeracy and IT Functional Skills (this will be determined by existing qualifications).
Your Trainer/Assessor will assess you in the workplace every 4 weeks. In between these meetings you will have dedicated time away from your job to work on the apprenticeship and collate evidence for your apprenticeship e-portfolio with ongoing support from your Manager and Trainer/Assessor.
This is an exciting opportunity to be in a real job, with real variety, from day one whilst working towards a qualification.
To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, applicants must have resided in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start of the Apprenticeship. Please note: applicants must not have already completed a Level 2 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship.
This will be a fixed term position and the duration of the apprenticeship will be determined by the job role and current skills. The minimum length of the apprenticeship will be one year and one week.
Please note: AET has their own in house apprenticeship scheme and do not work with any other training providers to deliver Apprenticeships.
As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them. In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes. You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, childcare vouchers and much more.
This position is required to commence as soon as possible. Interviews are scheduled to take place Thursday 26 April 2018.
Closing date: Sunday 8 April 2018.

About Lift Pioneer
Lift Pioneer was formerly two separate schools – Elmbrook School and Moat House School, both based in Church Road Basildon.
Elmbrook School catered for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties and pupils with complex learning difficulties aged 3 – 19 and Moat House School catered for pupils with moderate learning difficulties aged 5 – 16.
The two schools amalgamated in September 2003 to form Pioneer School, initially operating across two campuses.
In January 2009, after years of fundraising and planning, the school moved into its current purpose-built premises. This was followed in September 2011 by the opening of a new wing, funded by the Building Schools for the Future programme. These developments provided state-of-the-art facilities designed to support a broad and ambitious curriculum, with specialist spaces for therapy, life skills and vocational learning.
In June 2012, the school became part of Lift Schools, joining a national family of schools committed to delivering an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.
Who is Lift Schools?
