Riverview Federation is firmly established as leading the way for inclusive practice. We want every child to feel safe, successful and cared for in our schools and to do that we know we must be creative and flexible in creating unique environments where children thrive.

We already have highly successful provisions such as our Discover Groups, Attendance Hub and Headway and this year we have created equally respected newer provisions, with Pathways for year 7-8, and the Stepping Stones SRP for KS1. These provisions all understand the needs of every child and provide them with the conditions they need to be happy and proud of their success. Our KS1 SRP opened in April 2025, and is already recognised as a successful flagship provision by the Local Authority and we are also viewed as inclusive leaders across the region, helping to shape national and regional change.

Building on this success, we are now looking to the next phase of our project, opening our KS2 SRP provision, also on the Castledyke site. The post we are currently advertising will be based primarily in the new KS2 provision, with opportunities to also support in KS1, when appropriate.

All our provisions are successful because of the outstanding staff team, who are committed to working with young people with additional needs and have the expertise, skills and knowledge to really make a difference. We know that getting the right people makes all the difference for children and their families.

Therefore, we are seeking a teaching assistant with a passion and commitment to working with autistic children, who will work as a key member of the SRP KS2 team. The role will focus on supporting autistic pupils to make progress in their personalised outcomes, aiming for these pupils to access mainstream schooling, when appropriate. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of supporting children with additional needs, particularly autism, and will be able to adapt their practice appropriately to meet a range of cognition and learning, social and emotional, and communication and interaction needs. Experience of both the KS2 curriculum and the delivery of communication and interaction and SEMH interventions, would further support this role.

The successful candidate should be ambitious for themselves as well as for our children and be committed to developing their SEN knowledge, undertaking a bespoke training programme, which will be on offer for the successful candidate. As the SRP pathway grows, there will also be opportunities for career progression for the right candidate.

Riverview is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.

If you are inspired by the challenge of this opportunity, we would like to hear from you. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the post, please feel free to contact the SRP SENCO and KS1 Lead Teacher- Marie Embling at marie.embling@castledykeprimary.co.uk

Please submit completed applications via North Lincolnshire Council online at https://northlincs.current-vacancies.com/Careers/2021%20NLC%20VSP-1930

Closing date for applications is Monday 9th March at 8.00am.

Interviews will be held Tuesday 17th March.

Baysgarth is part of the Riverview Family of Schools which comprises of one secondary school, a primary school, an alternative provision and a teacher training provider.  Find out more about us here!

Over the past decade, Baysgarth has undergone a complete transformation. In summer 2014 our results were the second worst in the Local Authority and were on a three-year downward trend. Since then we have made significant and sustained improvements; in 2015 we were named the most improved school in North Lincolnshire and in 2016 we were in the top five schools in the Humber region, in the top two schools in North Lincolnshire and among the top 10% of schools nationally!  In 2019 our results propelled us into the top 4% of the country for the progress we make with our students.  Our aim to provide the highest quality education for local young people is always our top priority and we continue to strive to improve our offer.

This transformation has come about for a number of reasons. Firstly, we raised our expectations of what our students can achieve and insisted on high standards of behaviour and appearance. Secondly, we focused our staff on the quality of learning taking place in the classroom. We came up with our own Baysgarth Learning Model that underpins our lessons and focused on promoting collaborative learning and Kagan techniques in the classroom. Thirdly, we focused on changing the culture of the school to ensure that we promoted strong teams, encouraged creativity and risk-taking, and praised success.

As a result our classrooms have become vibrant and creative places that are enjoyable for staff and students. We have a very strong teaching staff in all departments which means that any new colleague will be well supported and have the opportunity to continue to grow and develop professionally.

Baysgarth continues to be a Good school that is ‘making good progress on the journey to outstanding’ according to Ofsted, who visited most recently in January 2023.  Inspectors described the school to “have created an inclusive community” where “pupils are well cared for”, “have access to a wide range of enrichment opportunities”, “benefit from high-quality teaching”, along with having access to “a range of experiences that go beyond the national curriculum…experiences that they may not otherwise have had”.  Leadership and governance is strong, with “a clear vision” and “high expectations”.  Baysgarth is consistently one of the top performing schools in the Humber region and it is our mission to recruit the most talented staff to cement our excellent reputation.

Baysgarth is ideally placed at the meeting point of four authorities – North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, Hull and East Riding. Half of our teaching staff live on the North Bank and travel across the Humber Bridge every day, all of them commenting on the speed and ease of travel with Baysgarth being within 15 minutes of all the West Hull villages and only 20 minutes from Hull city centre. With the area having lower property prices and higher average wages than surrounding areas we are an ideal spot to live and work.

We’re looking for brilliant people to help us build a truly great school, so if this is you we look forward to your application! Feel free to contact us if you want more information or to arrange for a visit.
