Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and committed Learning Support Assistant who has worked with students in an education setting or in the voluntary sector to join our friendly Student Services Team. This is a temporary post, term-time only. We would prefer the LSA to work full-time, term-time only, however, we would be willing to consider part-time (0.5) for suitable candidates. This would work out as two and a half days per week. The post will run for the duration of the A Level course (two years), in the first instance, until the end of the summer term 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive and successful department. The post holder will provide 1:1 support to students to help them with their overall development and academic work whilst supporting their physical and mental wellbeing in a college environment.

We are looking for a kind, caring and sensitive individual with a positive attitude, plenty of enthusiasm and high levels of integrity and professionalism.

The salary will be in the range of point 10 - 13 on the sixth form college support staff salary scale, which is currently £23,367 - £25,687 depending on experience, plus £2,894 Outer London Weighting pro-rata per annum. As this is a term-time only post, the actual salary (based on full-time equivalent), will be in the range of £21,884 – £23,818 gross per annum. The pay includes an additional week to cover a pro-rata of 8 bank holidays.

In return, the following benefits are available:

  • Very strong learning ethos
  • Excellent pension schemes (TP and LGPS)
  • Generous holiday entitlement (support staff)
  • Option to apply to sabbatical schemes
  • Internal CPD programme
  • Well-resourced library for personal staff use
  • Bike Scheme
  • Free eye tests and contribution towards glasses
  • Workstation assessments
  • Free parking on site
  • Employee Assistance Programme – free counselling and support and guidance on a wide range of topics
  • Excellent sports facilities for staff badminton, football and table tennis
