Job overview
Bruern Abbey Prep School | Chesterton, Bicester | OX26 1UY
November 2026 or January 2027 | Hours to be agreed | Pay above National Minimum Wage
About the role
Bruern Abbey Prep School seeks a warm, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly team in November 2026, during the second half of the Michaelmas term, or in January 2027.
Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in lessons, individually and in small groups. You will help deliver literacy and numeracy interventions, adapt resources and contribute to records of progress, building pupils’ skills, confidence and independence. You will also play a valued part in the pastoral life of the school.
Hours and pay
Hours and working days will be agreed with the successful candidate. We welcome discussions about flexible working patterns, including hours that could fit around school drop-off and collection for working parents, subject to the needs of the school. Full-time and part-time arrangements can be considered.
Pay will be above the National Minimum Wage, with the rate to be agreed.
About you
Patience, kindness and a good sense of humour are essential. You will bring a calm, encouraging approach, sound literacy and numeracy, clear communication skills and a willingness to learn. You should enjoy working as part of a team and helping children recognise what they can achieve.
Previous experience as a teaching assistant or supporting children with SEND is welcome but is not essential. We warmly welcome applicants new to learning support who bring the right personal qualities and an interest in developing their skills through training. A-levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification are required, as set out in the accompanying job description.

What we offer
Flexible hours to be agreed, with scope to accommodate family commitments; pay above the National Minimum Wage; a group personal pension scheme; training and continuing professional development; meals during working hours in term time; and on-site parking.
