Job overview

Are you a compassionate and inspiring individual with experience supporting high-needs students in education? As a leading Further Education college in the West Midlands, we are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team on fixed-term contracts until June 2026, with both full-time and part-time hours available.

Please note that your salary will be calculated based on the number of term-time weeks and the hours worked. The advertised salary reflects the full academic year.

Salary: £23,447 - £27,164 per annum (Pro rata £21,000.67 - £24,329.86).

Please also note that this salary will be updated to reflect the new academic year. We will advertise the revised salary accordingly once the updated pay scales are confirmed.

Key Responsibilities

In this rewarding role, you will be supporting students with complex needs (SEN), where the ability to build trusting relationships is key. You’ll need to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and have experience in administrative tasks. Most importantly, you must be confident and comfortable with providing all aspects of personal care. A genuine interest in teaching and a commitment to improving students’ lives are essential for success in this role.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

To be considered, you must hold at least a GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong understanding of the diverse needs of students in a Further Education setting and how these needs can impact progress and achievement.

You’ll be adaptable and resilient, with a strong desire to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our students. Your classroom and behaviour management skills will be well-developed, and you'll be capable of working with learners who have a wide range of emotional and physical needs.

We are hosting an assessment centre on Wednesday 18th June. The event will run for roughly 4 hours and will consist of a tour of our facilities, a group exercise, a formal interview, and an open Q&A with the hiring team and HR at the end. Food and refreshments will be provided. If you are able to attend this assessment centre you will have an outcome by the Friday. Please flag your availability on your application form.
