Job overview

Job description

We are looking to appoint outstanding Learning Support Assistants to join our team and to promote positive behaviour, attitudes and learning across the school and support students to overcome barriers to learning associated with SEND needs or students who require additional support. You will be committed to the highest standards of support for student welfare and will work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and carers.  These posts may be on a permanent or fixed term basis depending on the needs of the school.

Who are we?

  • OIAMFS opened in September 2013 with just 60 year 7 students, we are now full and oversubscribed every year. We are based next to the iconic home of Bradford City Football Club, Valley Parade.
  • OIAMFS is part of the One In A Million family. One In A Million was established in 2006 as a charity that wanted to make a difference in the lives of young people in Bradford through sport, the arts and enterprise. Our name reflects our values: every child is valued and unique.

What we offer:

  • We are a small secondary, mainstream comprehensive school, with approximately 375 students across five year groups, so our class sizes are smaller. This means every teacher knows every student and we all know each other which builds a strong team and community within the school.
  • A chance to change the lives of young people from deprived socio-economic backgrounds.
  • We place students at the centre of everything we do as a school.
  • We genuinely value our staff and fully support their development, wellbeing and career progression. We offer a wide range of CPD opportunities and really encourage staff in their professional development.
  • A range of benefits, include access to West Yorkshire Pension Scheme, cycle to work and discounted IT plans and we offer wellbeing support through Health Assured and provide wellbeing sessions to staff.

What you offer:

  • With a diverse student base and range of abilities we are looking for someone who can motivate and inspire our students to achieve their best.
  • You will be an experienced Learning Support Assistant who can support students in KS3 and KS4.
  • As a small school we sometimes have to take on a variety of roles so being a team player is essential.
  • Share our values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity and Excellence.

It’s an exciting time to join Valley Academy, as in early 2026, we merged with Delta Academies Trust. We’re looking forward to the benefits of being part of the collaborative and supportive environment of the trust, and the opportunities for both our students and our staff this will bring.

We’re a small secondary academy with approximately 375 students on roll, across both KS3 and KS4. We view our smaller size as a strength, as our class sizes are smaller, this allows staff to know all of our students across the academy. We’re based in central Bradford, next to Bradford City Football Club. Our modern site is well-equipped to offer a rich, broad and balanced curriculum to all our students.

In Summer 2025, we celebrated our best-ever GCSE outcomes, and we were recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country (top 0.38%) including the 3rd most improved in English & Maths at grade 5 and above. This also placed us within the top ten for GCSE results within secondary schools in Bradford.

Students are at the heart of everything we do and, as such, our team are passionate about delivering the highest quality education and creating a culture where children feel safe and can thrive in a happy learning environment. We believe that every child deserves to maximise their potential, regardless of their starting point, background or personal circumstances, and we are extremely proud of our diverse and inclusive community.
