Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake, PL18 9EH
Salary:     £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours:      37.5 hours per week | Monday 8.30am – 5.00pm | Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 3.45pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start:        November 2026

At Copper Fields School, we’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team and help young people with additional needs overcome barriers to learning and achieve meaningful progress.

You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider team to provide personalised support, helping young people engage with their education, develop greater independence and build confidence in their own abilities. By understanding individual needs and recognising strengths, you’ll help create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with experience in SEN, who understand how the right support, consistency and relationships can transform a young person’s experience of education.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide individual and small group support, helping young people access learning and work towards their individual goals

• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences that meet a range of additional needs

• Build positive and trusting relationships that encourage confidence, participation and independence

• Support social, emotional and behavioural development using calm, consistent and nurturing approaches

• Contribute to individual education and support plans, monitoring progress and sharing observations with colleagues

• Prepare resources and activities that encourage curiosity and engagement

• Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider learning opportunities

• Work collaboratively with colleagues while maintaining high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs recognise their strengths and achieve their potential.

You’ll be someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN and Autism

• Is patient, compassionate and able to build meaningful relationships

• Can adapt your approach around different needs, abilities and situations

• Remains calm, positive and resilient when situations become challenging

• Communicates effectively and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team

• Is enthusiastic about learning, developing professionally and sharing ideas

• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of every young person

Experience within an SEN educational setting would be particularly welcomed and is highly desirable.
