Grange Technology College is a part of the Southfield Grange Trust, a multi-academy trust established in 2013. The school is co-located with Southfield School, a ‘generic’ special school at the Southfield Grange Campus. Grange has been oversubscribed for a number of years. The majority of students are of South Asian heritage and we welcome an increasing number of students from Eastern Europe. We at Grange aim to ensure that students make excellent academic progress as well as developing the social and life skills essential to their future. This is done through a relentless concentration on teaching quality, curriculum provision and the effectiveness of the support we provide. Our commitment to equal opportunities is reflected in all aspects of school life - we welcome young people from all cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.

So what can we offer?  Grange is a secondary academy located in the city of Bradford.  We serve some of the most disadvantaged students in the country and can offer a unique and rewarding environment for committed and highly skilled professionals to develop their career.

What does the role entail? We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant for DSP. Reporting to the Manager of the Designated Special Provision (Autism), the successful candidate will provide in class support for students and liaise with classroom teachers to identify appropriate support.

What do we need? Enthusiasm, confidence and a commitment to promoting high quality learning with the ability to work with pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties. Applicants must have a good standard of written and spoken English.

Why now and why here? Let’s be honest, in May 2016 Grange was graded ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted and placed into special measures.  We are now under new, experienced leadership who have a track record of success in similar circumstances.  Now is the time to do things differently and better and the work is well underway.  We have now received three monitoring visits by Ofsted who on all three occasions confirmed that “leaders and managers are taking effective action towards the removal of special measures.” The subsequent Ofsted monitoring letters give detailed evidence of our progress against a rigorous school improvement plan which is being constantly evaluated and reviewed.  Read the letters in full at www.southfieldgrange.org.uk/grangeofsted

We know where we stand and have high aspirations to turn the school around to a grading of ‘good’ within two years.  Our progress since May 2016 demonstrates that with the right people, a systematic approach and consistent application we will achieve this aim.  This is a time of great opportunity at Grange to be part of a journey and to achieve the ultimate aim of giving our students the very best start in life; the start they deserve.  Get on board now because our school is back on track and we are going places.

Want to find out more?  Find us online or pay us a visit: A core focus of our turnaround plan is to be open and engaging. We have nothing to hide, we take pride in what we do and are committed to sharing information and celebrating our achievements.  We encourage potential applicants to visit and look around the school. Please contact our HR Team if you would like to arrange this: 01274 779662 or if you would like to make arrangements for you to hold an informal discussion with the Manager.

For more information on this role please refer to the attached information. In addition to submitting the Application Form, please ensure you complete the Equal Opportunity Monitoring Form and email this to: hr@southfieldgrange.org.uk

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable young people and expect all staff, casual workers and volunteers to share this commitment.  Safer recruitment practices and procedures are in place to ensure a robust safeguarding culture.  The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and vetting check.  As required a “Teachers Prohibition Check”, “Section 128 Management check and “EEA teacher regulatory authority restriction check” will be undertaken. References will be undertaken and proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required before any employment starts.
