Job overview

REQUIRED FOR JANUARY 2022 START – We are an outstanding Independent Prep School looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our school as part of our SEND Team. Ofsted has described us as a 'happy and successful school'

The position predominantly supports a child in Year 4 both in the classroom and across the school day.

We wish to recruit either an experienced SEN teaching assistant/LSA or a graduate with a degree relevant to working with children with SEN. The successful candidate needs to have the skills to support children with social communication differences and associated learning needs.

The children require an exceptional individual who is patient, encouraging and calm. Our LSAs need to provide consistent and reliable support to ensure that children make excellent progress with their learning and social skills.

The post holder will work with the SENDCo to plan and deliver interventions in social skills, speech and language, maths and English. It will be necessary to keep records and feedback to the SENDCo and relevant teachers.  Applicants should demonstrate good experience or graduate-level knowledge and understanding of SEND interventions. It would also be beneficial if you have had experience working with children with EAL, but this is not essential.

Our classes are small, calm and focused, and as an LSA, you may either be supporting the individual child or working with a group of children in the class. You must be able to work effectively with other adults as part of a team.

In return, we can offer a supportive team environment with CPD opportunities.  As an LSA, you will be working in a school Ofsted described as having 'high standards of behaviour, good manners and respectful relationships. This school is a friendly, happy and calm place to work.

This role is a full-time position and may include break time and lunchtime support.  The post will be a fixed-term role linked to funding received.

If you would like to discuss the role before applying, don't hesitate to get in touch with the school office and ask for Celia Ackerley.
